The much awaited CIT 1976 Friendship Meet with family is going to take place at Yercaud on 26 the and 27th Dec 2009 at Hotel Grand Palace, Yercaud.The Organising Committee has made elaborate arrangements, and we take this opportunity to invite you alongwith your family to attend the meeting.

The minimum contribution for this year has been fixed at Rs.5000 per batchmate. You are welcome to contribute any amount you wish to. The temperature at Yercaud will be as low as 5 to 6Deg C in the nights in December. So all are requested to bring with them warm clothes.
Yercaud is a hill station situated at about 30 kms from Salem and at bout 200 kms from Bangalore and 350 kms from Chennai, situated in the Shevaroyan range of hills in the Eastern Ghats. It is situated at an altitude of 1500 mtrs.The highest point in Yercaud is the Shevorayan Temple, which is situated at a height of 5326 ft. The name is derived from the picturesque Yeri( Lake) once surround by kadu(forest).The hills were largely used for coffee cultivation by Europeon settlers. The coffee estates continue to be major part of the Yercaud region. Yercaud is also called ‘Ooty of the Poor’ and is known for coffee Plantations and Orange Groves. Sight Seeing Places in Yercaud

There are lots of sights seeing places in and around Salem.
Salem: This Steel City is geologist’s paradise surrounded by hills and the landscape dotted with hillocks. The name Salem is derived from a Sanskrit word SAILAM denoting an area surrounded by hills.
Mettur Dam: Situated at a distance of about 50 kms from Salem.The Stanley Reservoir built here pumps water to the farmers of the Cauvery Basin which suffer the vagaries of Indian Monsoon.
Tiruchengode: Situated at a distance of about 30 kms from Salem. The famous Arthanareeswarar Temple located here on a hillock . The presiding diety of the temple is represented in a hermaphrodite form, that is a half male and half female form. Siva and Sakthi are worshipped as one.
Bhavani: Situated at about 60 kms from Salem.The Sangameswarar Temple is situated at a confluence of the Rivers Bhavani, Cauvery and Amurtha Nathi. It is one of the most important pilgrims in South India.
Hogenakkal: The Famous waterfalls in the River Cauvery, and famous for Sandalwood Veerappan is situated at about 60 kms from Salem.
Namakkal: Known as poultry town and auto city of South India is situated at about 50 kms from Salem.The famous 20 feet tall Hanuman Idol is carved out of a single stone.
Kolli Hills: Another hill station sitauated at about 40 kms from Salem.
